At Merck Serono, our enduring commitment to “Living science, transforming lives” drives our efforts to discover, develop and manufacture tomorrow’s breakthrough medical solutions.
We devote over EUR 1 billion every year to discover promising new molecules and develop them into medicines that make a difference in the lives of patients, physicians and caregivers.
Rather than trying to cover the whole spectrum of medical science, we increase our chances of success by focusing on the therapeutic areas we know best: Oncology, Neurodegenerative Diseases, Rheumatology, Fertility and Endocrinology.
We take a truly global approach to medical science, with dedicated teams working intensively around four main
R&D hubs on three continents. Our engineers and scientists in
Technical Operations work closely with colleagues in R&D to develop high-performing cell lines for biotherapeutics and innovative molecules that can be chemically synthesized. Scalable processes ensure that we can produce sufficient quantities for pre-clinical studies, clinical trials and commercial launch, while ensuring alignment with the exacting quality standards of regulatory authorities.
We realize that we don’t have a monopoly on scientific ingenuity. In addition to the strengths of our own Research and Development organization, we foster an innovation network of over 40 major partnerships with industry and academic institutions.
